Five laborers lost their lives, and at least eighteen others sustained critical injuries in a devastating road accident on Monday morning. The incident occurred when a pickup truck, overloaded with laborers, collided head-on with a truck on the Chhindwara-Betul National Highway near Temani Khurd village around 10 AM. The impact of the crash was so severe that the pickup truck was left completely mangled, with its wheels and parts scattered.
Rescue teams faced a grim scene with bodies of the victims strewn across the road, requiring them to collect remains in pieces. The chaotic aftermath saw locals rushing to assist amidst cries and distress. The deceased and injured individuals have not yet been identified, leaving the district administration unable to confirm the exact number of fatalities and the identities of the critically injured.
The pickup truck was transporting a large group of laborers, including women, with three women among the deceased. Injured workers were promptly taken to Chhindwara District Hospital, where at least 16 of them were admitted to the ICU with multiple fractures and head injuries. Medical professionals are closely monitoring their conditions as the death toll is feared to increase.
Additional District Magistrate Dhirendra Singh visited the hospital to supervise treatment efforts. Promptly responding, police and administrative teams launched rescue and relief operations at the accident site.
