One person died and 13 others were injured in Afghanistan’s Herat province following flash floods, as reported by local media. Rescue operations were underway to assist those affected, including individuals trapped in various incidents due to the flooding. The situation, which caused a trailer truck to be stranded on the Herat-Kandahar highway, was resolved promptly.
Thirteen individuals sustained injuries when a passenger bus overturned on the Herat–Farah highway due to the floods, with three people being trapped in the Adraskan district. Efforts by local residents and response teams led to the rescue of two individuals, while unfortunately, one person lost their life. Further rescue operations were ongoing for two individuals trapped by floodwaters in the Torghundi river.
In another incident, three vehicles were stuck in floodwaters in the Rud Bazaar area of the Gulran district. However, all passengers and vehicles were safely rescued by response teams and local residents. The Disaster Preparedness Authority reported a total of 28 fatalities and 49 injuries in Afghanistan due to heavy rains, floods, and lightning since February 26, affecting multiple provinces.
