The flood situation in Assam has worsened, affecting over 45,000 individuals across seven districts due to heavy rainfall and rising river levels. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority reported that 257 villages in 14 revenue circles are submerged, with nearly 4,279 hectares of crop land underwater. Dhemaji remains the most severely impacted district, with more than 41,000 people affected.
The Disang River in Nanglamuraghat is flowing above the danger level, although no river has surpassed the highest flood level. Assam has established 12 relief camps and distribution centers, accommodating 655 displaced persons, while relief supplies are being provided to over 36,800 individuals outside the camps. Despite ongoing rescue efforts by various agencies, one person is still missing in Dhemaji district, and no flood-related fatalities have been reported.
Rescue operations by the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and local authorities have evacuated 157 individuals and 68 animals using boats in the affected areas. The floods have caused significant damage to infrastructure, with nine houses destroyed, and multiple roads, bridges, and an embankment suffering damage or erosion. The state government is actively engaged in relief and rescue operations, closely monitoring the flood situation as rainfall persists in Assam and neighboring Arunachal Pradesh.
