Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met with Hong Liang, the Deputy Secretary General of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), in Beijing to explore enhancing bilateral exchanges between India and China at various levels. The Indian Embassy in Beijing highlighted their discussions on political and people-to-people interactions.
During his official visit to China, Secretary Misri also engaged in talks with Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. They deliberated on implementing leaders’ guidance for bilateral relations, focusing on mutual priorities and advancing exchanges in political, people-to-people, academic, and think-tank domains.
India’s Ambassador to China, Vikram Doraiswami, was part of the discussions as well. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently mentioned the gradual normalization of relations between India and China since the 2024 meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, emphasizing the importance of fair market access and trade balance.
