The city generated approximately $1 billion in revenue from the tourism sector, with 4.9 million domestic tourists also visiting during this period.
The Mayor of Addis Ababa City credited the city’s performance to the development of new tourism destinations, establishing the capital as a key tourism and conference hub in Africa. Various festivals, sports, and health tourism initiatives have contributed to the influx of foreign visitors.
The city hosted nearly 150 international and continental events in the past six months, a 50% increase from the previous year. Addis Ababa, with a population of nearly 3.5 million, offers a rich tapestry of historical and cultural attractions, including the Entoto Mountains and significant architectural landmarks.
