Former AIADMK ministers Dr C. Vijayabaskar and M.R. Vijayabaskar, along with approximately 15,000 supporters, officially became part of the ruling Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) at a ceremony in Mamallapuram near Chennai. The induction ceremony was overseen by TVK General Secretary and Minister N. Anand, with Minister Adhav Arjuna welcoming the newcomers by presenting them with the party’s traditional shawl.

During the event, C. Vijayabaskar explained that the decision to depart from AIADMK came after extensive discussions with party members and the public of Viralimalai and Pudukkottai. He mentioned that despite their efforts to suggest an electoral alliance between AIADMK and TVK before and after the elections, their proposals were disregarded.

Expressing confidence in TVK’s future, Vijayabaskar expressed optimism about the party’s success in the upcoming elections, stating that this induction was just the beginning. He hinted at the possibility of more leaders from the Cauvery delta region joining TVK in the future if approved by the leadership.

The event saw not only the two former ministers but also other prominent ex-AIADMK leaders joining TVK, including former ministers S. Valarmathi and M.S.M. Anandan, and several former MLAs and district secretaries. Additionally, 208 former AIADMK union secretaries also joined TVK during the event, marking a significant organizational shift since the Assembly elections.
