Former Andhra pacer Doddapaneni Kalyankrishna has been appointed as the Director of Cricket Operations for Andhra Pradesh, as announced by the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). With an impressive record of 217 wickets from 51 first-class games, 42 List A matches, and 16 T20 games, Kalyankrishna will be responsible for enhancing cricket operations and fostering future growth in the state’s cricketing landscape.
The appointment was made official during the ACA’s Annual General Meeting held in Mangalagiri. The ACA expressed confidence in Kalyankrishna’s leadership, emphasizing his role in fortifying cricket operations and ensuring sustainable progress for the sport in the region. Kalyankrishna, who previously played for the Deccan Chargers in IPL 2008 and has been associated with Star Sports Telugu as a broadcaster, expressed gratitude to ACA President Kesineni Sivanath and Secretary Sana Sathish Babu for entrusting him with this position.
In his statement, Kalyankrishna acknowledged the significance of transitioning from a player to an off-field role within the Andhra cricket setup. He highlighted the honor of contributing back to the game post his playing career, underscoring the privilege he feels in being able to do so now. Additionally, Kalyankrishna will collaborate with Andhra’s head coach, Gary Stead, to devise strategies for the upcoming 2026/27 domestic season, viewing this new responsibility as a substantial career challenge.
