Former Australian cricketer Shaun Tait has officially resigned from his role as Bangladesh’s fast bowling coach, just before the team’s upcoming series against Australia. Tait, who joined the coaching staff in May 2025, cited family commitments as the primary reason for his sudden departure.
Despite his relatively short tenure, Tait’s impact on Bangladesh’s pace attack has been widely acknowledged as positive. Under his guidance, the fast-bowling unit showed significant improvement across different formats, with promising young bowlers making notable progress.
One of the success stories during Tait’s time was the emergence of Nahid Rana, a talented young pacer whose development was nurtured by Tait. The former cricketer’s belief in Bangladesh’s fast bowlers as a formidable strength was evident in their recent Test series victory against Pakistan, where the pace attack played a crucial role.
Tait’s association with Bangladesh cricket extends beyond the national team, having previously worked in the Bangladesh Premier League and coached in Pakistan and Afghanistan. His departure comes just ahead of Bangladesh’s series against Australia, with Talha Jubair emerging as a potential candidate to lead the pace attack for the upcoming matches.
