Former BJP national general secretary and Legislative Council member C.T. Ravi accused Excise Minister R.B. Thimmapur of engaging in corruption under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s protection. Ravi claimed that despite public knowledge of corruption in the Excise Department for over a year, no action has been taken against the minister. He criticized the government for allegedly promoting corruption across various departments.
Ravi further stated that the government, led by the Congress party, is embroiled in widespread corruption, with even contractors alleging a 60% commission. He emphasized that the current administration is fostering a culture of corruption and criticized the Chief Minister for not addressing the issue promptly. Ravi accused the government of prioritizing personal gains over public welfare.
The BJP leader highlighted recent arrests by Karnataka Lokayukta of officials from the Excise Department for accepting bribes. He mentioned that complaints have been filed against Minister Thimmapur in connection with corrupt practices. Additionally, Ravi pointed out allegations made by the Leader of the Opposition regarding a significant bribery transaction within the Excise Department, questioning the integrity of the government’s revenue collection processes.
Ravi defended a government scheme against criticism from the Congress party, stating that the initiative aims to empower the poor through skill development and asset creation. He refuted claims of wrongdoing in the scheme and emphasized the importance of self-reliance and responsible utilization of resources. Ravi also criticized the arrest of a Hindu activist for exposing issues related to illegal Bangladeshi nationals in Bengaluru, questioning the government’s priorities and commitment to internal security.
