Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticized the state government for delays in the Civil Lines Railway Overbridge (ROB) project in Jaipur. Gehlot expressed concern over the slow pace of development, especially near the Chief Minister’s residence. The project, initiated in 2021 during Gehlot’s tenure, aimed to ease traffic congestion in the area but remains incomplete in 2026.
Gehlot pointed out that the Civil Lines ROB was designed to alleviate traffic issues and enhance connectivity in the region. He blamed the current government for the project’s delays, stating that it has now become a hazardous area due to negligence and political motives. The flyover was intended to facilitate the movement of over 20,000 two-wheelers that pass through the railway crossing, reducing congestion and queues.
Highlighting the project’s significance in decongesting the area, Gehlot emphasized the necessity of completing the construction to benefit daily commuters. He questioned the government’s priorities, raising concerns about whether political interests were prioritized over public welfare. The prolonged delay not only inconveniences commuters but also reflects poorly on governance and infrastructure planning in the state.
Gehlot recently launched a social media campaign called ‘Intezaar Shastra’ to shed light on stalled public-welfare projects under the current BJP government. In response, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma dismissed the campaign as ‘Jhooth Shastra’ and referenced past scandals during the Congress tenure, emphasizing the government’s actions against corruption.
