Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed sorrow at the passing of Suresh Patnala, a marine engineer from Visakhapatnam, who was among the three Indian seafarers killed in a US attack on a ship off the coast of Oman. The attack targeted the Palau-flagged oil tanker MT Settebello near the Strait of Hormuz in Oman.
The other two Indian victims of the attack were identified as deck cadet Aditya Sharma from Himachal Pradesh and engine fitter Shivanand Chaurasiya from Uttar Pradesh. The US military conducted the attack after the vessel allegedly tried to breach a US blockade. The tragic incident has deeply affected Suresh’s family, leaving his wife and two young sons, aged 13 and 10, in profound shock.
YS Jagan expressed his condolences to Suresh Patnala’s family, emphasizing the distress caused by the loss of three Indian lives in the attack. He described the death of the marine engineer as a great loss and extended his sympathies to the grieving family, hoping for strength and peace for them during this difficult time. Former MP V. Vijayasai Reddy also responded to the tragedy, highlighting the need to ensure the safety of Indian crew members in high-risk maritime regions.
