Former Chief Minister and BJP Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government for allegedly trying to create a divide between Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Ram. Speaking at a public awareness event organized by the BJP in Gadag, Bommai emphasized the importance of Mahatma Gandhi’s principles and accused the state government of undermining their connection with Ram.
Bommai highlighted the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, focusing on the principles of “Satyameva Jayate” and truth-seeking through fasting. He criticized the Congress for exploiting Gandhi’s name while disregarding his core values. Bommai also pointed out the historical treatment of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by the Congress, alleging disrespect and neglect towards his legacy compared to other political figures.
Addressing the government’s performance, Bommai labeled it as a “zero-achievement government” and discussed the allocation of funds for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). He claimed that under the NDA government, funding for MGNREGA had significantly increased compared to the previous UPA government, emphasizing the need for effective implementation at the state level.
Accusing the Congress of misleading the public with incorrect information, Bommai raised concerns about the lack of financial support for various welfare schemes and infrastructure projects. He also criticized the state government’s handling of minority loans, highlighting discrepancies in the distribution of benefits among different social groups. Bommai called for a collective effort to raise awareness about government schemes and address corruption issues in MGNREGA.
