The discharge of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his close aide, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, in the liquor policy case has brought relief to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Both founding members of the party, they had served prison terms in the case.
The Rouse Avenue Court’s decision came after finding no sufficient evidence from the CBI investigation to establish any criminal offense or intent. Kejriwal expressed his faith in the justice system, saying “Satyamev Jayate” in response to the court’s ruling.
Kejriwal’s emotional reaction to the exoneration included tears as he recalled the hardships faced during the excise policy scam allegations. He highlighted the false and fabricated nature of the case, emphasizing the challenges endured by AAP leaders.
Manish Sisodia supported Kejriwal during his emotional moment, reflecting solidarity within the party. The court’s decision was celebrated by family members, supporters, and party members, marking a moment of vindication for the AAP leaders.
Many AAP leaders viewed the court’s decision as a validation of their innocence and criticized the alleged misuse of investigative agencies by the Centre. Opposition parties also welcomed Kejriwal’s acquittal while accusing the government of targeting dissenting voices.
