Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, expressed their condolences for the lives lost in the Malviya Nagar fire incident. At least 21 people lost their lives, and over two dozen were injured in a massive fire at the Lemon Green Restaurant in Malviya Nagar. Kejriwal prayed for the peace of the departed souls and expressed concern over the rising number of fire incidents in Delhi.
Kejriwal posted on X, expressing his sorrow for the tragic fire incident in Malviya Nagar. Atishi also shared her condolences, calling the incident heartbreaking and praying for the victims’ peace and speedy recovery. She questioned the fire safety measures under the BJP government and demanded accountability for the repeated tragedies in Delhi.
Authorities reported that 26 people were injured and taken to the hospital, with search operations ongoing for others. Senior officials from Delhi Police, Fire Services, and rescue teams are at the scene, where ten fire tenders were dispatched promptly to control the fire. Some individuals attempted to escape by jumping from the building, resulting in extensive damage and critical injuries among the survivors.
Rescue operations continue as officials search for any remaining trapped individuals within the building. The incident has raised concerns about the state of fire safety in Delhi and the need for improved preventive measures to avoid such tragic events in the future.
