Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda accused the BJP of engaging in vote theft during the recent Rajya Sabha elections. Hooda criticized the BJP for fielding a second candidate despite lacking the necessary support, alleging a disregard for democracy. He highlighted the misuse of government machinery and the invalidation of Congress votes by the Returning Officer.
MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra claimed that the Returning Officer acted in favor of the BJP to ensure their victory. Despite these efforts, the Congress candidate secured a seat in the Rajya Sabha, showcasing the unity of loyal Congress legislators. Hooda revealed that Congress legislators who engaged in cross-voting will face disciplinary action if they do not resign voluntarily.
Hooda refuted false social media claims about MLA Kuldeep Vats’ vote, affirming his support for the Congress candidate. He criticized the undemocratic expulsion of Congress legislators seeking a debate on the elections. Hooda congratulated the party candidate on the victory, emphasizing that it symbolizes inclusivity and representation of all societal sections.
