Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Jairam Thakur, thanked the state’s residents for the BJP’s victory in the local body elections. Thakur highlighted that the election outcome reflects the public’s disapproval of the alleged failures and corruption under the Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Thakur, celebrating with party members, criticized the current government for its false promises and mismanagement. He emphasized the deteriorating law and order situation, corruption, and alleged support to mafia elements in the state.
The former CM accused the current Chief Minister of being untruthful and lacking trust even from his own ministers. Thakur urged the Chief Minister to accept the election results and any future mandates with grace.
A voter turnout of 69.16% was recorded in elections for 51 Urban Local Bodies across 10 districts. The BJP-backed candidates secured victories in 20 municipal bodies, with the Congress winning in 17, and Independents in five.
