Former Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara shared his views on India’s top order ahead of the second T20I against England. Pujara emphasized that he believes Sanju Samson should retain his spot and not make way for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, despite calls for the latter’s inclusion.
Pujara expressed his opinion that Samson has proven himself and deserves a consistent opportunity in the team. He suggested that there should be less speculation about dropping Samson and highlighted his talent and potential contribution to the playing XI.
While acknowledging Sooryavanshi’s potential, Pujara stressed that his inclusion should not disrupt India’s established top order. He recommended giving Sooryavanshi a chance without displacing any of the top three players.
Pujara also commended captain Shreyas Iyer for his composed innings in the rain-affected first T20I against England. He praised Iyer’s leadership and maturity in stabilizing the innings and guiding India to a competitive total.
According to Pujara, Iyer’s responsible batting under pressure showcased his leadership qualities and contributed significantly to India’s strong position in the match.
