Ahead of the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season, former India cricketer Anagha Deshpande has been appointed as an assistant coach for Delhi Capitals (DC). Anagha will focus on fielding and batting within the DC team, aiming to contribute to their quest for a championship win. She expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, highlighting her eagerness to learn and support the team in achieving success.

Anagha will collaborate with head coach Jonathan Batty at DC, following the departures of Lisa Keightley and Milap Mewada to other coaching roles. With a background of playing 23 ODIs and eight T20Is for India, Anagha brings valuable experience to her coaching role. She has also excelled as a coach in Uttarakhand, leading various women’s teams to significant achievements in recent years.

Having demonstrated coaching success at the state level, Anagha’s impact has been acknowledged by players like Nandini Kashyap and Raghvi Bist, who credit her guidance for their development. With the upcoming WPL season set to commence on January 10, DC is gearing up under the leadership of newly appointed captain Jemimah Rodrigues. Anagha has expressed confidence in Rodrigues’ leadership abilities and endorsed her appointment as captain.

In related developments, former India captain Anju Jain is expected to join DC as the batting coach. Anju, known for her distinguished playing career, has extensive coaching experience at various levels, including stints with the Indian and Bangladesh women’s teams. Her addition to the coaching staff further strengthens DC’s support system as they prepare for the upcoming WPL season.
