Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta has advised that India should reconsider their bowling strategy following their loss to England in the second T20I. Dasgupta recommended the inclusion of an extra specialist seamer for the upcoming matches to strengthen India’s bowling attack. He expressed concerns about India’s current bowling combination, emphasizing the vulnerability when relying on only two seamers alongside all-rounder Shivam Dube.

Dasgupta highlighted the risk of limited options if one of the frontline pacers underperforms, leaving the team exposed during crucial phases of the game. He suggested that having an additional specialist seamer could provide India with more flexibility and prevent the opposition from exploiting weaker links in the bowling lineup.

According to Dasgupta, the team management should prioritize balance in the bowling attack by considering the inclusion of three seamers instead of two, even if it means compromising on other aspects of the team composition. He also questioned the necessity of playing three spinners, especially in conditions like those in England, where seam and bounce are significant factors.

The former cricketer acknowledged that adjusting the bowling lineup might impact India’s batting depth but believed that the potential benefits in terms of bowling strength could outweigh this concern. Dasgupta emphasized the importance of making tough decisions to enhance India’s chances of success in the remaining matches of the series.

Dasgupta’s observations underscore the strategic dilemma facing the Indian team management as they strive to strike a balance between batting prowess and bowling effectiveness in the upcoming games.
