Former Indian fast bowler S. Sreesanth has had his ban lifted by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) after he offered an unconditional apology for his remarks against the association. The decision to reinstate Sreesanth was made during the KCA’s Special General Body meeting following his formal apology expressing regret for his comments on various media platforms.
The KCA had initially suspended Sreesanth for three years before the last season of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) due to his public statements that were deemed detrimental to the association’s reputation. This suspension barred Sreesanth from participating in KCA-recognized events, including the Kerala Cricket League.
Despite challenging the KCA’s decision in court, Sreesanth’s petition was dismissed, upholding the ban. Subsequently, Sreesanth issued an unconditional apology to the association, leading to the unanimous decision to lift his suspension by the Special General Body.
While Sreesanth has been granted relief and can continue as a co-owner of the Aries Kollam Sailors in the upcoming season of the Kerala Cricket League, the KCA has warned of strict disciplinary action for any future misconduct that tarnishes the association’s image. This resolution concludes a prolonged conflict between Sreesanth and the Kerala Cricket Association, signaling a fresh start in their relationship and emphasizing the importance of upholding Kerala cricket’s reputation.
