Former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa recently wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, extending congratulations for completing 4,399 consecutive days in office, making him India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. Yediyurappa praised Modi’s leadership and electoral success, spanning from 2014 to 2024, attributing it to the trust of the voters and the BJP’s political journey.
In his letter, Yediyurappa highlighted the BJP’s historical evolution under leaders like Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and L.K. Advani, emphasizing the party’s growth under Modi’s leadership. He commended India’s economic progress during Modi’s tenure, noting significant advancements in GDP, exports, foreign direct investment, and global economic rankings.
Yediyurappa also lauded the implementation of various welfare schemes under Modi’s government, such as the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Ayushman Bharat, which have enhanced financial inclusion, housing access, sanitation coverage, and healthcare for millions. The letter further mentioned key policy decisions like the abrogation of Article 370 and the inauguration of the Ram Temple, underscoring their historical significance.
Referring to India’s global presence, Yediyurappa highlighted the country’s diplomatic achievements, technological advancements, and recognition on the international stage. He praised India’s improved Ease of Doing Business ranking, emphasizing the transition to a more investment-friendly environment and the elimination of bureaucratic hurdles through initiatives like the JAM trinity.
