The Anti-Corruption Bureau team in Jaipur presented former minister Mahesh Joshi before the court, extending his custody until May 11, 2026. Joshi was arrested from his residence in connection with alleged corruption related to the Jal Jeevan Mission. Investigations revealed that companies, including M/s Shri Ganpati Tubewell Company and M/s Shri Shyam Tubewell Company, used forged documents to secure government tenders in Rajasthan. This collusion allegedly involved several officials and individuals, leading to tenders worth approximately Rs 960 crore being obtained fraudulently.
Further probing by the Special Investigation Team disclosed that certain conditions were manipulated to favor specific bidders, resulting in inflated premiums and corruption amounting to nearly Rs 20,000 crore. Eleven individuals, including retired officer Subodh Agarwal, have been arrested in connection with the case. Arrest warrants have been issued against three absconding suspects, with legal actions initiated to declare them proclaimed offenders. Additionally, five accused have obtained protection from arrest from the High Court. The investigation, overseen by Additional Director General Smita Srivastava and Deputy Inspector General of Police Rameshwar Singh, continues with detailed interrogations and evidence collection.
