The Indian Embassy in Mongolia announced that Former President Nambaryn Enkhbayar of Mongolia has praised the advancements in the construction of the Dornogovi Oil Refinery Project, which is receiving support from India. This project, backed by a USD 1.7 billion Line of Credit from the Indian government, is a key initiative in Mongolia’s sustainable energy strategy.

During a recent visit to the construction site at Dornogovi, Ambassador of India to Mongolia, Atul Malhari Gotsurve, and Former President Nambaryn Enkhbayar engaged with Engineers India, Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd, and Mongolrefinery staff. Enkhbayar commended the project’s progress, highlighting its potential to enhance bilateral relations between India and Mongolia and ensure sustainable energy supply to Mongolia.

Ambassador Gotsurve also met with B. Binderya, Director General of the Consular Department at the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss various mutual interest and cooperation matters. This meeting further strengthens the ties between the two nations.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, accompanied by Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh and Industry and Mining Minister Gongor Damdinnyam, inspected the oil refinery construction site last month. Jaishankar assessed the project’s status with the teams involved and commended the dedication of the Indian and Mongolian workforce for their commitment to realizing this significant project under challenging circumstances.
