In a notable political move before the Bankipur Assembly by-election, former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari has switched allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), ending his longstanding association with the RJD. Tiwari, known as a close confidant of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, was formally welcomed into the BJP by Bihar BJP State President Sanjay Saraogi at the party’s state headquarters.

The induction ceremony was graced by former Bihar minister Mangal Pandey, State General Secretary Preeti Shekhar, Rajesh Jha, and various other BJP leaders. Sharing pictures of the event, the Bihar BJP greeted Mrityunjay Tiwari and other public figures who joined the party, citing their admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Nation First” vision and dedication to public service.

Following his entry into the BJP, Tiwari expressed his unwavering commitment to the party, stating that he now considers it his lifelong political home. He criticized his former party, alleging that the RJD had become synonymous with dynastic politics and had transformed into a problematic entity that dedicated workers should distance themselves from.

State President Sanjay Saraogi welcomed Tiwari into the BJP, emphasizing the party’s respect for all new members and expressing confidence in Tiwari’s political acumen to bolster the organization. Tiwari had resigned from all his RJD positions on July 16, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s internal operations and the lack of recognition for sincere and loyal workers within the party.
