Former state minister Firhad Hakim is facing trouble as a complaint has been lodged against him at Bidhannagar South Police Station in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area. The complaint accuses Hakim of making obscene and disrespectful comments towards women, dating back one and a half years. The complaint was filed by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker named Sanjay Payra, who is demanding Hakim’s arrest.
Payra alleged that Hakim made derogatory comments about women and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a Trinamool meeting in Sandeshkhali on November 7, 2024. The complaint also mentions religiously provocative remarks made by Hakim at a government function on July 3, 2024. Payra emphasized the need for Hakim’s arrest due to these alleged divisive and provocative statements.
The BJP worker praised the police for their impartiality following the change in government in the state. Payra highlighted that previously, complaints from BJP workers were not taken seriously by the police, but now they are being treated fairly. With the change in state leadership, there has been a surge in allegations against Trinamool leaders, leading to several arrests. The demand for Hakim’s arrest adds to the ongoing scrutiny of Trinamool members, including General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
