Former Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member and doctor Santanu Sen has expressed gratitude towards the new BJP government in West Bengal and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Sen, who was previously suspended from Trinamool for alleged anti-party comments, recently commended the state government’s initiatives in the health sector. His public support for the BJP has caused unease within the Trinamool party.
Santanu Sen, a prominent figure in the medical community, lauded the BJP government for its efforts in healthcare development. He highlighted his role in supporting movements for justice and transparency within the medical fraternity. Sen’s actions have led to his suspension from Trinamool and subsequent reinstatement following internal party conflicts.
Having played significant roles in various community programs, including those led by Trinamool, Santanu Sen’s recent social media post congratulating the BJP government is seen as a strategic move amidst changing political dynamics in West Bengal. His actions have sparked reactions from Trinamool representatives, emphasizing his current association with the Indian Medical Association.
Trinamool spokesperson Arup Chakraborty clarified that Sen’s recent social media activity was not as a party representative but in his capacity within the Indian Medical Association. Meanwhile, the BJP’s recent electoral victory in West Bengal marks its first-ever government formation in the state, securing 207 seats in the Assembly elections.
