Former Union Minister and Congress MP Jairam Ramesh has submitted a notice for privilege proceedings against Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Ramesh accuses Pradhan of making derogatory references to parliamentary committees while discussing the NEET-UG 2026 controversy and measures to prevent paper leaks.
Ramesh criticized Pradhan for allegedly lowering the dignity of Parliament and parliamentary committees. He highlighted the minister’s remarks about the rot in the Education Ministry, which he claims is negatively impacting students nationwide.
In a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan, Ramesh cited comments made by Pradhan regarding Opposition members, Parliament, and the drafting of reports. He described Pradhan’s conduct as a serious breach of privilege and contempt of the House.
Ramesh emphasized that the Education Minister’s statements undermine the stature and bipartisan nature of the Standing Committee. He condemned Pradhan for allegedly imputing dishonorable motives to members of parliamentary committees, calling the remarks outrageous and derogatory.
