Four individuals have been apprehended for attacking a tourist in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, as confirmed by the police on Sunday. The incident was reported by Suresh Kumar of Nagni Bhalra, Bhaderwah, who lodged a formal complaint at Police Station Bhaderwah. Prompt action was taken by the police under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to prevent any further unrest.

The detained individuals, identified as Javed Iqbal, Owais Ahmed, Khursheed Ahmed, and Avinash Manhas from Bhaderwah, were presented before the Executive Magistrate, Bhaderwah, for legal proceedings. Authorities emphasized their commitment to upholding law and order, ensuring the safety of tourists, and fostering a secure and welcoming environment for visitors in the region.

Tourism plays a vital role in Jammu and Kashmir’s economy, ranking second only to horticulture. Despite security challenges, the region attracted over 1.77 crore tourists in 2025, including 36,000 foreigners. During a recent visit, Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the resilience of tourists who continue to visit Jammu and Kashmir despite terrorist threats.
