In Bihar, four individuals, including two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), have been apprehended in connection with a kidnapping and extortion incident. The arrests were made by the Jamui district police, who nabbed four personnel of the Nawada Excise Department. Among the detained are ASI Sujit Kumar, ASI Dilip Kumar, and two Home Guard jawans stationed at the Pakribarawan Excise Police Station.
The episode unfolded when excise officials stopped a car with three allegedly intoxicated occupants during a routine vehicle check. Subsequently, one of the detainees, Santosh Kumar, contacted his family claiming abduction and demanding a ransom of Rs 5 lakh for his release. Following a complaint by his brother, Pintu Kumar, the family arrived in Nawada with cash, leading to the exchange of Rs 1.5 lakh for the vehicle’s return at the Pakribarawan excise police station.
Promptly responding to the situation, the Jamui City Police initiated an investigation, recovering the ransom money from ASI Dilip Kumar’s residence and seizing the Creta car as evidence. The four accused individuals were arrested and taken into custody at the Jamui police station. This incident has stirred public outrage, casting doubts on the integrity and effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in the region.
