At least four individuals, including a child, lost their lives, and four others sustained severe burns due to a fire outbreak at a firecracker factory in Jaipur’s Khoh Nagorian area. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, with the blaze starting around 11 a.m. near ITI College in the Ayesha Nagar Talai region. Firefighters and rescue teams promptly responded to the scene to control the flames and evacuate individuals trapped inside.

The deceased include Abdul Wahid, with the identities of the other three victims pending confirmation. The injured, identified as Nasir Khan (23), Samir Khan (30), Bilal (30), and Aadib (25), have been admitted to SMS Hospital in critical condition. Medical reports indicate that Samir and Nasir suffered approximately 95% burns, while Bilal and Aadib sustained 75% and 65% burns, respectively.

Authorities suspect that the fire was ignited by highly flammable materials stored within the factory premises. The fire resulted in the destruction of a significant quantity of firecrackers, intended for wedding festivities, with burnt packaging labeled “Kohinoor” found among the debris. Notably, an LPG cylinder within the facility was safely removed during the rescue operation, averting a potentially more catastrophic event.

Initial estimates suggest that around eight to ten individuals were present inside the factory during the fire outbreak. Local resident Hashim Ansari, who participated in the rescue efforts, described the intense situation, recounting his efforts to save several individuals before the fire escalated beyond control. The incident has raised concerns, with MLA Amin Kagzi questioning the operation of a gunpowder unit in a residential area and emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency.

Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal and DCP (East) Ranjeet Sharma swiftly arrived at the scene, initiating an investigation into the fire’s cause and the factory’s compliance with regulations. Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and assured swift relief and rescue measures. The authorities are actively probing the factory’s licensing and safety adherence while seeking answers regarding the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.

Former CM Ashok Gehlot and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully also extended their condolences to the affected families.
