Four teenagers have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of shootings and arson attacks in western Sydney. The arrests were made by the New South Wales police force following search warrants executed at six properties in the region. The incidents, believed to be linked to an organized crime conflict, targeted the same family.
Authorities established a strike force to investigate the shootings and arson attacks that occurred over two days. The first attack left a 44-year-old man hospitalized with serious injuries after being shot multiple times. Subsequent incidents did not result in further injuries. During the arrests, police seized 1 kg of cocaine, vehicles, electronic devices, and clothing relevant to the investigation.
Among the arrested teenagers, a 16-year-old and one of the 19-year-olds were charged in connection with the shooting of the 44-year-old victim. Allegations suggest that the 19-year-old aided the gunman after the shooting, while the 16-year-old was involved in supplying the firearm. The other 19-year-old and an 18-year-old were charged over a property firebombing incident.
One of the 19-year-olds faced additional charges related to drug trafficking involving the seized cocaine. The police confirmed that the investigation by the strike force into these incidents is ongoing.
