A four-year-old child named Gurkaran Singh fell into a borewell in Chak Samana village, Punjab’s Hoshiarpur. The incident occurred around 4 P.M., and after a nine-hour operation involving NDRF, SDRF, Punjab Police, district administration officials, and residents, the child was rescued safely at 12:40 A.M.
Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain and SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik oversaw the rescue mission, commending the teams for their coordinated efforts. Gurkaran was immediately taken to the hospital for medical evaluation post-rescue.
Officials mentioned that Gurkaran fell into an open borewell near his house, which had been dug just a day prior. Rescue teams dug a parallel pit, created a connecting passage, and successfully pulled the child out from a depth of nearly 30 feet.
Specialized equipment, including heavy machinery, a camera, and an oxygen pipe, were used to monitor and ensure the child’s safety during the rescue operation.
Punjab Minister for Jails, Ravjot Singh, and Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha MP, Raj Kumar Chabbewal, were present during the rescue. SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik thanked the teams for their successful efforts, with various organizations providing support throughout the operation.
