Macron revealed that he had discussions with US President Donald Trump and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in response to recent strikes on gas production facilities in Iran and Qatar. He stressed the mutual interest in halting attacks on civilian infrastructure, particularly energy and water supply installations, to prevent any further harm to civilians and ensure the security of energy resources.
In related events, Qatar’s interior ministry and QatarEnergy reported that missile attacks had caused significant fires and damage at Ras Laffan Industrial City. Additionally, the Israeli air force targeted Iran’s major natural gas facility in Bushehr, with reports indicating coordination with the US administration for the strike. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued evacuation warnings for oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar following the attack.
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian strongly condemned the US and Israeli assaults on the country’s energy infrastructure, warning of potential uncontrollable consequences with global implications. Similarly, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf denounced the attacks, stating that they would lead to dire consequences for the perpetrators.
