The investigation into the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal saw a new development as Sahil Goyal, brother of the main suspect Siya Goyal, was interrogated by the police for nearly 10 hours. Sahil revealed to investigators that the family would have called off the wedding if Siya had expressed any reluctance to marry Ketan.
Sahil faced extensive questioning by the police on Friday, providing insights into Siya’s relationship with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary. The Lonavala Rural Police Station confirmed Sahil’s interrogation and release after several hours of questioning.
Police suspect that Ketan Agarwal was murdered on June 18 at Lohagad Fort by his fiancée Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary. The duo is believed to have conspired to kill Ketan as Siya reportedly did not wish to proceed with their upcoming marriage in November.
Investigators initially treated Ketan’s death as a trekking accident, but later determined it to be a premeditated crime. The case took a turn after CCTV footage from Lohagad Fort revealed a man following the couple, identified as Chetan Chaudhary.
Siya allegedly tried to push Ketan off the cliff on June 14, claiming a snake was nearby. Despite objections from Ketan’s family, she insisted on visiting the fort multiple times before the incident. Meanwhile, Siya’s family denied reports of an extravagant wedding budget, stating the overall expenses were expected to be below Rs 3 crore.
Ketan’s father dismissed speculations about his son’s hairpiece influencing the crime, emphasizing that Siya could have simply declined the marriage if she had concerns. The case has garnered attention in Maharashtra, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis meeting Ketan’s father and ensuring full support during legal proceedings.
Describing the incident as deeply disturbing, Fadnavis emphasized the need for societal reflection on the motives behind such criminal actions.
