B.N. Madhukar, a childhood friend of Karnataka Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar, expressed joy at Shivakumar’s elevation to the state’s top political position. Madhukar, who has known Shivakumar since 1969, highlighted their enduring friendship that began during their school days. He praised Shivakumar for staying true to his roots despite his political advancements.
Madhukar reminisced about Shivakumar’s early interest in politics, noting that the future Chief Minister had shown a keen inclination towards political involvement since his school days. He described Shivakumar as a spirited member of NSUI, actively engaging in student movements and protests from a young age.
Despite Shivakumar’s successful political career, Madhukar emphasized that the Chief Minister-designate has maintained his personal connections over the years. He commended Shivakumar for his accessibility and commitment to staying connected with friends, highlighting his unchanged nature despite his senior political status.
Referring to Shivakumar’s involvement in cricket administration, Madhukar mentioned that the Congress leader is a dedicated member of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Despite his busy schedule, Shivakumar has consistently supported cricket activities, contributing to the return of IPL matches to Bengaluru.
Expressing optimism about Shivakumar’s leadership, Madhukar expressed confidence in the Chief Minister-designate’s ability to effectively utilize his tenure despite time constraints. He believed that Shivakumar would excel in his role over the next two years, making significant contributions to the state’s governance.
Madhukar confirmed his attendance at Shivakumar’s upcoming swearing-in ceremony on 3 June.
