People gathered in Tehran for a funeral ceremony honoring the crew members of an Iranian frigate sunk by the US, along with senior security officials and a military commander who died in Israeli strikes. The US Navy’s submarine sank Iran’s Dena frigate in the Indian Ocean, resulting in the deaths of 104 crew members and injuries to 32 others. Iranian officials confirmed the deaths of Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani, Gholam-Reza Soleimani, and others in the Israeli attacks.

The funeral, attended by family members, state officials, and military leaders, commenced at Enghelab Square and proceeded to a location in southern Tehran for burial rites. Mourners, carrying flags and images of the deceased, expressed allegiance to Iran’s new Supreme Leader and denounced the US and Israel. They vowed retaliation for the perceived aggression and loss of Iranian lives in recent conflicts.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced the death of Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib on social media platform X, further deepening the nation’s mourning. The ceremony was marked by emotional tributes and calls for justice, reflecting the somber mood prevailing in Tehran.
