A gas leak from a cylinder in a two-room house caused an explosion in Pilkhini village, Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, leaving nine people critically injured. Six individuals inside the house suffered severe burn injuries during the blast, while three others were hurt while trying to rescue them amidst the chaos. Immediate response teams, including police and ambulances, rushed the injured to Malwan Medical College for urgent treatment.
The condition of multiple victims was critical, leading to eight of them being transferred to Kanpur for advanced medical care. To expedite the process, a green corridor was established by the administration for swift transportation to Kanpur hospitals. Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik confirmed that the incident was triggered by a gas leak but clarified that the cylinder itself did not explode.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, with dedicated officers in Kanpur overseeing the treatment of the injured. The District Magistrate and police administration are actively involved in ensuring the best possible care for the victims. The explosion occurred while Kalawati was preparing dinner, with a gas pipe leak igniting and causing the massive blast inside the house.
Family members and neighbors rushed to rescue those trapped in the fire, resulting in additional injuries. The injured individuals include family members and a neighbor, all of whom are receiving treatment in Kanpur. Villagers promptly responded to the explosion, aiding in controlling the fire and assisting in the rescue efforts before emergency services arrived.
Kalyanpur police station in-charge Sumit Dev Pandey confirmed that the seriously injured victims have been referred to Hallett Hospital in Kanpur for specialized treatment. Police and administrative teams are actively investigating the incident while monitoring the injured individuals undergoing treatment in Kanpur.
