In Russia, the 12th International Day of Yoga event was held at Universitetskaya Square, Lomonosov Moscow State University, bringing yoga enthusiasts and wellness advocates together. The event aimed to promote health, harmony, mindfulness, and overall well-being through yoga.
In Germany, over 500 participants gathered at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin to celebrate IDY 2026 despite thunderstorms. The event, organized by the Embassy of India and the Tagore Cultural Centre, emphasized the message of health, harmony, and well-being through yoga. Participants continued practicing yoga enthusiastically, undeterred by the rain.
Denmark also joined the celebrations, with the Sustainability Foundation and HHS Aarhus organizing IDY events. The theme of Healthy Ageing for 2026 was highlighted during the celebrations. The Mayor for Health and Elderly Care, Aarhus City, Metin Aydin, was among the participants.
In Madrid, the 12th IDY was celebrated at Plaza de Oriente, with a focus on Yoga’s universal message of well-being and unity. The event emphasized the global impact of IDY as a movement initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Participants gathered to practice yoga against the backdrop of the Royal Palace.
Hungary witnessed IDY celebrations at the Sports University Stadium in Budapest, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from Kolkata. The event highlighted the theme of ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ emphasizing the importance of adding grace and wisdom to life.
