The government has urged India Post to take a proactive and strategic approach towards business growth. Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, emphasized the need for reaching out to businesses and entities contributing significantly to GST. He also recommended the establishment of dedicated marketing executive teams in each circle to monitor leads, conversions, and revenue on a daily basis. Aligning with local strengths and business potential, custom growth strategies are to be implemented.
In a review meeting following the framework set by Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Dr. Pemmasani stressed the importance of balancing performance metrics like mail and parcel operations, savings, and insurance for public welfare and financial prudence. These reviews are aimed at early issue identification, swift corrections, and ensuring consistent service and performance standards at India Post.
The discussions, covering all 24 postal circles, concentrated on enhancing operational efficiency, financial inclusion, logistics expansion, and technology-driven reforms in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat. The Minister of State highlighted the need for optimal resource utilization to strengthen delivery services, expand savings and insurance coverage, and support the country’s logistics requirements.
Acknowledging Karnataka Circle for its strong grassroots performance and successful customer and market acquisitions, Dr. Pemmasani also praised the Northeastern Circle for opening 1.54 lakh new savings accounts, mobilizing Rs 276 crore under PLI/RPLI, and executing structured MSME outreach. Serving over 1.4 billion citizens through the postal network is seen as a responsibility and an opportunity, with a focus on efficient services, digital integrity, and financial prudence to make India Post a self-reliant and future-ready institution.
