The government announced that DIKSHA, the Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing platform, has become India’s primary digital platform for school education, offering curriculum-linked digital learning resources in various languages. Launched in 2017, DIKSHA is led by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in partnership with the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET).
Described as the country’s key digital platform for school education, DIKSHA aims to ensure continuous learning through digital methods. It provides comprehensive K-12 digital learning support, covering basic literacy to senior secondary education. Education boards in almost all states and Union Territories have adopted the platform, which can be tailored to regional languages, curricula, and teaching needs.
DIKSHA promotes accessible, engaging, and personalized learning experiences through technology and innovation. It offers a variety of educational resources, including animations, simulations, virtual labs, and sign language videos to enhance conceptual understanding. The platform also features QR-coded Energised Textbooks that link physical NCERT textbooks with interactive content, videos, and teacher guides for seamless classroom integration.
Supporting personalized learning, DIKSHA offers practice questions, adaptive assessments, and detailed solutions to identify learning gaps and provide timely interventions. It serves as a significant platform for teacher professional development through NISHTHA and state-specific training programs, offering certified courses for educators.
Operating on a federated architecture, DIKSHA allows institutions and states to independently upload and manage educational content in regional languages. This decentralized approach enables content localization while ensuring quality standards through periodic validation by CIET-NCERT. The platform supports both online and offline learning, allowing students to download content for offline use and enabling states to preload educational material on smart classroom boards for uninterrupted access.
