The government emphasized that E20 petrol offers enhanced acceleration, better ride quality, and nearly 30% lower carbon emissions compared to E10 fuel. Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi stated that E20 fuel provides improved ride quality and significantly reduced carbon emissions. Additionally, higher ethanol blends in E20 enable cleaner combustion, leading to minimal particulate matter emissions and better urban air quality.

Extensive studies and real-world data have shown no signs of ethanol-induced engine corrosion, abnormal wear, or reduced vehicle lifespan with E20 fuel. Various organizations, including ARAI, SIAM, Indian Oil Corporation, IIP, and automobile manufacturers, conducted thorough evaluations on engine durability, drivability, emissions, and fuel efficiency before the introduction of E20 fuel. These studies confirmed the safety and effectiveness of E20 under specified standards.

The evaluation process also revealed that legacy vehicles running on E20 fuel did not experience any significant performance issues or abnormal wear and tear. The government supported its claims with field data, where a prominent automobile manufacturer serviced millions of vehicles, including those not originally certified for E20 compatibility, without observing any E20-related corrosion or wear. Similar findings were reported by leading two-wheeler and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) who monitored E20-operated vehicles over extended periods.

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) reiterated that vehicles undergo stringent international-standard validation processes before reaching consumers, ensuring their compatibility with E20 fuel.
