The government has launched the ‘Corporate Mitras’ program to offer accessible, affordable, and quality compliance and business support services to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This initiative aims to equip young graduates with industry-relevant knowledge and practical skills, creating a pool of trained para-professionals. The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in Shillong organized a webinar to raise awareness about the Corporate Mitra Scheme among the youth, students, professionals, and enterprises in Arunachal Pradesh.

The scheme targets empowering MSMEs, particularly in tier 2 and 3 cities, to contribute to the larger vision of a developed India by 2047. By providing professional assistance in regulatory, compliance, financial, taxation, accounting, and governance-related areas, accredited ‘Corporate Mitras’ enable MSMEs to focus on innovation and growth. This initiative is expected to strengthen the MSME ecosystem and boost employment opportunities, especially in the North Eastern Region.

Corporate Mitras will offer affordable and accessible support to local enterprises, allowing MSMEs to concentrate on expansion and innovation while fulfilling regulatory obligations with ease. The scheme’s initial nationwide implementation aims for 2000 participants, with 200 slots reserved for the North East Region. Additionally, candidates from the North East Region can avail a 50% fee concession under this scheme.

IICA Shillong has been designated as the nodal agency for coordinating and liaising with state governments and stakeholders for the scheme’s rollout in the Northeast region. The program envisions a formalized and thriving MSME sector by providing a strong support ecosystem through qualified and trusted para professionals known as ‘Corporate Mitras.’
