The government introduced the Internal Audit Portal (IAP) on Monday to boost transparency and accountability by transitioning audit processes to a centralized digital system. This move, as per the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), allows for real-time monitoring of audit activities across departments, enhancing efficiency and oversight. Notably, the system offers Secretary-level access, enabling senior officials to directly monitor audit status and address issues promptly.
The newly launched portal, developed by the National Informatics Centre, aims to modernize audit procedures by replacing manual methods with a digital framework. Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, Shailesh Kumar Singh, emphasized that the Internal Audit Portal will enhance oversight and ensure timely actions on audit findings. This initiative is anticipated to elevate governance standards and boost the efficacy of rural development programs.
Featuring a real-time dashboard, an escalation mechanism, role-based access, and seamless coordination, the portal is designed to monitor audit progress and compliance instantly. It includes tools to flag and resolve delays efficiently. Moreover, the platform offers role-based access to guarantee secure data sharing and facilitate improved coordination between field offices and headquarters through a unified system.
The Ministry highlighted that the portal will aid in reducing compliance gaps, enabling continuous monitoring of audit observations, and promoting data-driven decision-making. By simplifying audit workflows, the system is poised to enhance the utilization and tracking of funds allocated for rural development initiatives. The review of the portal involved Secretary Singh, Chief Controller of Accounts Akhilesh Jha, and other senior officials, marking a significant step towards digital governance and reinforcing transparency and accountability in public spending.
