The government has introduced JANANI (Journey of Antenatal, Natal and Neonatal Integrated Care), a QR-enabled digital healthcare platform aimed at overseeing maternal and child health services. This platform will maintain digital health records of women throughout their reproductive years, covering antenatal care, delivery, postnatal care, newborn care, and family planning. JANANI, an upgraded version of the existing RCH portal, creates a comprehensive health record by capturing key service delivery events.
The new system allows for continuous monitoring, timely interventions, and enhanced service delivery at every stage of child care. Notably, it features QR-enabled digital Mother and Child Health cards for easy access to records. Additionally, the platform includes automated alerts for high-risk pregnancies, real-time dashboards for supervisory review, and due-list generation to ensure timely tracking and targeted interventions.
JANANI integrates with national platforms like U-WIN and POSHAN, promoting seamless data exchange, improved coordination across programs, and comprehensive beneficiary monitoring. It facilitates beneficiary registration using unique identifiers such as ABHA, Aadhaar (OTP and biometric), and mobile numbers, with pan-India search functionality. The platform ensures care continuity for migratory populations, prevents record duplication, and offers self-registration options through web and mobile platforms for active beneficiary engagement.
Moreover, JANANI aids citizens by facilitating the scheduling and monitoring of antenatal care visits and immunizations, along with alerts and reminders to prevent missing critical health milestones. It provides access to digital MCH cards, information on nearby healthcare facilities, expected delivery locations, and supports decision-making through health education and nutritional guidance, as highlighted in the statement.
