The government is gearing up for the BRICS Women Working Group Meeting and the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting scheduled from July 6 to July 9. An official statement announced the convening of the Third Preparatory Meeting of the BRICS Women Track under India’s Chairship. Chaired by Anil Malik, Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the virtual meeting focused on themes like ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.’
The meeting aimed to advance discussions on priority areas and key outcomes, including the Digital Repository of Best Practices and the BRICS Women’s Capacity Building Guidelines. BRICS Member Countries actively participated, sharing valuable inputs and reaffirming their commitment to collaborative and consensus-based outcomes. India received congratulations on its BRICS Chairship, with member countries appreciating the progress made under the Women Track and expressing continued support for enhancing cooperation on women’s empowerment.
The Chairman expressed gratitude to all participating delegations for their constructive contributions and reiterated India’s dedication to fostering practical partnerships that promote women-led development across BRICS nations. Additionally, the BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry delegation recently met with Union MoS for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh to discuss strengthening industry-led engagement across BRICS and BRICS Plus. Discussions revolved around enhancing engagement through innovation, startups, emerging technologies, research collaboration, and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted India’s increasing global innovation hub status and leadership in emerging technologies, emphasizing the opportunity for industry organizations to build stronger international partnerships contributing to national growth and global development. The delegation briefed the minister on the Chamber’s decade-long initiatives promoting trade facilitation, business-to-business engagement, women entrepreneurship, startup networking, artificial intelligence, research partnerships, and sectoral cooperation among BRICS and BRICS Plus countries.
