In a move to improve the quality of life for pensioners and family pensioners, the government is organizing the 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop in Pune on December 29. The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, has implemented progressive measures in pension policy and digital processes. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh will inaugurate the workshop as part of these initiatives.
Various sessions on Retirement Benefits, CGHS, Investment modes, BHAVISHYA portal, Integrated Pensioners Portal, Family Pension, CPENGRAMS, ANUBHAV, and Digital Life Certificate will be conducted to assist retiring employees in transitioning smoothly. Around 350 retirees from Maharashtra, due to retire in the next year, are expected to benefit significantly from this workshop. Additionally, the Department will conduct a Pensioners’ Awareness Programme and an 11th Bankers’ Awareness Programme for Pension Disbursing Banks.
The workshops aim to raise awareness about the rules and procedures relevant to Pension Disbursing Banks and retirees. Participants will have access to pensioner-related banking services and guidance on opening pension accounts and investing pension funds in suitable schemes. The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) has seen enrollment of 8,45,17,419 individuals as of November 30, 2025, with the objective of establishing a universal social security system, especially for the underprivileged and workers in the unorganized sector.
The government, along with the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), is actively working to enhance awareness and coverage of APY nationwide, including in rural and remote areas like Bihar.
