The Union government’s decision to reclaim the 27.3-acre land of the Delhi Gymkhana Club has stirred controversy. The Congress has raised concerns over the necessity of acquiring such a large area for a potential Prime Minister’s residence, while the BJP has criticized the doubts cast on the move’s public security rationale.
A video posted by BJP leader Amit Malviya shows Congress leader Surendra Rajput alleging that the land is being taken to expand Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg. Rajput questions the need for such extensive space for the Prime Minister’s residence, calling for an explanation from the BJP-led government.
Responding to the allegations, Malviya highlighted the irony in Congress’s stance, pointing out the size of Sonia Gandhi’s residence compared to the proposed expansion. He criticized the Congress ecosystem for what he termed as entitlement and hypocrisy, emphasizing the need for clarity on the government’s decision.
