Governor Acharya Devvrat welcomed the presiding officials of three state legislatures at Gujarat Lok Bhavan for a courtesy meeting before the upcoming Budget Session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The officials included Shankar Chaudhary, Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly; Harvinder Kalyan, Speaker of the Haryana Legislative Assembly; and Ram Shinde, Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
Chaudhary highlighted the modernization efforts in the Gujarat Assembly to align with contemporary needs. He mentioned the adoption of advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and facilitate quicker discussions on public matters. The implementation of systems to expedite the processing of members’ raised concerns was also emphasized.
Kalyan and Shinde discussed the reforms implemented during their leadership terms, focusing on enhancing legislative procedures and ensuring greater responsiveness to public issues. Governor Devvrat underscored the importance of expanding outreach activities related to the National Mission on Natural Farming, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting, held in preparation for the Gujarat Assembly’s Budget Session starting on February 16, involved preliminary talks on rural welfare programs and development initiatives. The session will commence with the Governor’s address, followed by the presentation of the state Budget for 2026–27 by Finance Minister Kanu Desai on February 17. Legislative discussions on the Budget, grant requests, and other matters are anticipated, with the opposition aiming to address various ongoing state issues.
