Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati urged universities in Odisha to transform into globally competitive and socially responsible institutions while upholding Indian values. Speaking at a conference of Vice-Chancellors, he emphasized the vital role of higher education in shaping an Atmanirbhar Bharat and preparing for future challenges. The Governor highlighted the need for universities to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and values to navigate a rapidly changing world.
Welcoming the Vice-Chancellors, Kambhampati emphasized that universities are hubs of knowledge, innovation, and leadership critical for nation-building. He stressed the importance of fostering entrepreneurship and innovation among students to drive growth and development in society. The Governor also praised the transformative potential of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes multidisciplinary education, skill integration, and research excellence.
Governor Kambhampati called for universities to conduct meaningful research on Odisha’s tribal heritage, emphasizing the preservation of indigenous knowledge systems and cultural traditions. He announced the availability of publications on Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) to support academic research. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, also present at the conference, highlighted the government’s increased budgetary allocation for education and initiatives to strengthen higher education.
