Ranchi, Aug 8 (IANS) Following the second round of talks between the JMM-led Jharkhand government and the students of the JPSC-JSSC Aspirant Nyay Manch, the delegation members representing the latter stated that the government “has listened and seriously considered” the demands of the protestors.
However, the students associated with the Manch, who have been protesting over alleged irregularities in Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) recruitment examinations, said that their agitation will continue till their demands are met.
Amit, a member of the delegation, said: “We have conveyed every aspect of the pain and suffering of the students of Jharkhand to the government. One of the demands that we raised during the meeting was Rs. 1 crore compensation for those aspirants who lost their lives during physical efficiency test (running trials) for the Jharkhand Excise Constable recruitment drive (in 2024).”
“We will continue the agitation till a concrete conclusion is reached,” he told IANS.
Referring to the government as a “guardian”, he said: “We are the ones who voted them to power…the government has assured that it will consider our demands and we are hopeful for that.”
Addressing reporters after the meeting, another member Chandan said: “The meeting with the government was positive. We presented all our demands with facts and evidence. Our colleagues had already informed us about all the issues and provided the necessary facts, and we have put every point before the government in detail. The government took note of our concerns and said that they would speak to the Chief Minister soon and that action would be taken at the earliest.”
He echoed, saying: “Till our demands are met we will continue this agitation and those of our colleagues who are on hunger strike will continue their fast. Government should clarify till when will our demands be met.”
Chandan said that the demands include cancellation of those examinations which have been conducted by TDPL agency, whose results have not been declared yet.
“We have also demanded that a reliable agency like TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) should be given the responsibility to conduct exams or the Commission should itself do so. The government should stop messing with the future of students by giving the examination responsibility to blacklisted companies,” he added.
Ravishankar, part of the eight-member delegation, told IANS that the government gave them considerable time and noted down everything that they said.
He echoed that the demands include cancellation of the examinations conducted by the TDPL and fast tract re-appointments of candidates.
“A CBI probe should be conducted into JSSC CGL exam and if irregularities are found then it should be cancelled immediately…and also compensation for those who died during the running trials of Jharkhand Excise Constable recruitment,” he added among other demands.
Ravishankar also said that the government has “seriously considered” all their demands.
Dinabandhu Mandal added: “We also demanded that for all the examinations that are cancelled, all the vacancies should be cleared within six months and merit list of the candidates be released.”
“From whatever discussion we had, it is understood that the government has seriously considered our demands and hopefully it will take action on it, but till then our protest will continue,” he stated.
